The Hotpants - Unzipped
Hot Pants Cover.bmp
The Hotpants formed in November of 1999 more of less by chance. Paul Stache and Frank
Christopher (owners of the jazz club "SMOKE") asked Joe Strasser to piece together a funk
band for two appearances at their club. The reception was so good that The Hotpants have
now maintained a steady Wednesday night at SMOKE for just under two years straight.
Through this steady gig as well as other appearances throughout the city and elsewhere,

The Hotpants have developed a unique and personal style combining elements of The Meters, James Brown and others.  Newsweek says, "The groove has no limits with the Hotpants"- 6/9/2000

Club owner Frank Christopher says, "Hotpants is my secret weapon... all I have to do is open the door and people will cross the street to check them out. That's how Wednesday night has become such a scene at SMOKE. These guys are not just a band, they're an addiction."  - 11/1/2000

The Hotpants consist of a core group of players consisting of: Adam Small (electric bass),
Ian Hendrickson-Smith (saxophone), Joe Strasser (drums), Dave Gibson (trombone), Jeremy Manasia (wurlitzer electric piano), Adam Scone (hammond B3 organ), and Al Street (guitar).   The band often uses substitute players when the original guys are out of town, but don't worry, they'll blow you away too! Wayne Escoffery (tenor saxophone), Jim Rotundi (trumpet), Ryan Kisor (trumpet), Mike "Moon" Reuben (guitar), Larry Goldings (organ) ... the list goes on.
