 Artist and Label Submission Criteria

The following is a list of guidelines to help Artists and Labels understand what IDC is looking for regarding product from any interested parties wishing to submit music for film to our collective for distribution consideration. This is no way precludes anyone from submitting product to IDC, but we hope to make clear in these simple guidelines for what a label or artist has to do, and what types of product we are interested in distributing.

To start this process please answer these two questions first:

Are you a label or an artist that is presently under an "Exclusive" distribution agreement?

If your answer is yes to this question, then read no further.  IDC is completely "Non-Exclusive" and cannot represent you at this time. Please contact us if this status changes for you or you are interested in distributing a back catalog title or a title that will not be covered under your current distribution agreement. This does not include any online or digital distribution agreements, as IDC itself only handles your physical product. Is your product "Retail Ready"?

This means is it industry standard musically and has industry standard packaging.  By this we mean it is a professionally manufactured CD or LP, that has contact information, is shrink-wrapped, and has a UCC bar-code. If not, IDC does offer options to help bring your product closer to industry standard, so we can consider distributing your product.  Remember we will listen to anything you send us, as we are not genre specific, but we have to feel we can sell your product to stores.

IDC is a physical distributor and for that reason we cannot accept Mp3's or "one-off" CDs for consideration at this time. Also, we do not sell 12", 7", or CD singles. We do consider other music related merchandise such as T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, and of course, DVDs. Please contact us before submitting any of these items.

We also ask for some sort of basic Marketing Plan for all of our new acts. The reason we feel that this is important is because many artists come to us, hand us product to sell, without a plan in place to "spark" the CDs sales. We are not asking for a long, complex document, but rather a simple overview or outline of how your release is going to be marketed and promoted. This can include; Touring, Radio Campaigns, Press Campaigns, and Web Promotions.

If your product meets these criteria then it can be considered by IDC for national distribution. We then ask that you send your CD or LP, and a complete press-kit, one-sheet, photo, and any other promotional materials to the address below:

It takes us about 2 full weeks to review your package. It will be listened to by a committee of industry professionals made up of our Label Partners, Advisors, and IDC Staff. This committee meets every other Friday and will decide on the next month's catalog recommendations. All labels and artists who submit will be notified of IDC's decision within a week following the meeting. IDC regrets that it cannot return your product once submitted.

Once you have been accepted for distribution by IDC we will send you our Standard US Distribution Agreement with the attached Deal Memo and Pricing Guidelines. As we use the same contract for every label we represent, the terms of this agreement are non-negotiable. Please read it carefully and contact IDC with any questions about our process or our agreement.
