Since 2004 IDC has developed various turnkey systems which allow the independent artist access to various promotional opportunities, including print, radio, social networking, and retail promoters who are able to create dynamic PR and marketing campaigns to further an artist's career (information for which can be found under the "Representation" tab).
Many artists and labels, however, already have long-standing relationships with publicists and radio promoters, yet are still unable to yield strong sales of their product in stores without some sort of retail promotion. IDCPromotion changes this reality by incorporating physical distribution with affordable in-store marketing and promotion.
Using artist/label-provided soft goods, such as posters and flyers, and a strong in-house team of retail promoters, IDC can dramatically help a release gain exposure and increase sales with a major marketing push pointed directly to retail store buyers and managers. This promotion spans at least two months and includes both a pre-release push as well as a strong follow-up after the store receives promotional and/or retail copies of the product.
IDC markets its products, which include albums from over 350 independent artists/labels, directly to approximately 400 independent stores across the country (Rasputin, Amoeba, Waterloo, Newbury Comics, etc).
Major one-stop distributors Baker & Taylor and Synergy market our entire catalog to over 10,000 stores across the U.S. including all major chains (Border's, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, Amazon, etc). We also have relationships with niche one-stop distributors such as Ernie B's Reggae, Fat Beats, VP Records, and more. Our distribution scope is no longer limited to our own borders, as IDC has recently opened a semi-exclusive European Distribution channel through Code 7 in the UK.
Approximately one month after your CD is solicited to our stores, artists can expect a full report on which stores purchased their CD, and any promotional opportunities that these stores can offer such as listening stations, in-store performances, and POP placement.
